I'm on the other side of that scorched earth area, Gene.  Between you in western Ohio, and us in the Evansville area, it has been one of the driest summers on record.  We're currently more than 15 inches below normal rainfall for the year.  From the air, the land from Detroit to Evansville looks like a desert.  The drought extends south on I-75 to about halfway from Lexington to the Tennessee border.
