Subject: [Farmall] Farmall M hydraulics

For as long as anyone can remember (I know it has been like this for at least 30
years), dad's Farmall M hydraulics will sometimes "lock" and not let down when
the cylinder  on the towed implement is fully extended. To get it to retract you
have to take the load off the cylinder and then sometimes loosen a fitting and
let some pressure off. Usually it only happens when you leave the implement
lifted for a long time. I've never known it to happen while in the field and
lifting to turn around. I have seen it do it with 4 different cylinders, so I
know that's not the problem, nor does it matter how heavy the machine you are
lifting is. Is this normal for this early hydraulic system or is something in
need of rebuilding?
