[Farmall] Farmall A Hood Emblem and Decals

Mike is correct when he references the Letter Series Tractors, the book not only 
lists all the decal locations it also has paint info as well. Back in the late 
40s or early 50s the decals on the side of the hood where changed from the IHC 
logo to the IH style. If you can get a copy- your local Case-IH Dealer might 
have one I see them at many of them yet, the only decision is do you want yours 
original or the latest style. I did my A with the IH style even though in 41 it 
would have been the IHC style.

There is a book called "Farmall Letter Series Tractors", which is an 
Originality Guide written by Guy Fay and Andy Kraushaar. I highly 
recommend this book to anyone restoring an early Farmall tractor. It has 
photographs and diagrams of all the various emblems and decals and shows 
where IH put them at the factory, as well as all the date codes and 
where to find them, which accessories and equipment came with the 
machines, etc. The book was published by Motorbooks International and is 
ISBN No. 0-7603-0438-6. I gather that the book is now out of print, but 
a quick Google search turned up quite a few copies, both new and used. I 
would consider it an excellent suggestion for anyone looking for a 
Christmas gift for someone restoring a letter series Farmall tractor.

Getting back to your questions. If the emblem you are referring to is 
the one above the grill, the word "Farmall", the horizontal "grill" at 
the bottom, and the rim surrounding the emblem are supposed to be bright 
"chrome", and the rest filled in with flat or low luster black. This is 
are relatively easy job to accomplish with a small brush and a rag.

As far as I could determine from reading the chapter on the A and C, the 
"cultivision" wording was always there, as this was a big selling point 
for those tractors.
