[AT] serial number

Bruce,

I'm a JD guy and a long ways from being very knowledgeable about Farmalls. But.... The only time
I've seen different seats on M's or H's they are aftermarket seats or demonstrator seats.

Hey Dean,
Thanks for the "link" it is good to see other restorations, but it is confusing that the seat is
different on mine and that I recently read an article indicating there was a time frame where a
"different" seat was used.
thanks again,
Bruce

Bruce,

Here are quite a few 1939 Farmall H pictures. None show a bench seat.

I know now that it is an early edition, a few months ago I asked on AT if anyone knew why it had a
different seat configuration (it looks like a John Deere bench seat) someone offered that it was
prehaps an after market ad on, I read recently that the seat was different in the 1939 H's but have
yet to see a picture of one like mine to see if it is original.

Bruce,

Dean has weighed in with what I am sure is a good reference book (although
I've not seen a copy of it) and Guy has responded and there's nothing I
can add to what they've provided.  But I am curious ... what is the suffix
part of your' H's Part Number?  "International Harvester Tractor Data
Book" (another of Guy's books) indicates the serial number of the first
Farmall H was 501 so you've got one of the very early Farmall H's.

Don't have an answer on the FB part of the H prefix but the book: Farmall:
