I agree HL, I've used Carbonite for 2 years now, but it took a painful lesson for me to start. We lost our family pictures from a trip to Puerto Rico. I was doing backups manually to DVD's but of course that's only good if you remember to do them. One morning I turned on our laptop to hear an unfamiliar groaning/clicking sound. Turns out the hard drive had failed and the data wasn't recoverable. I pay about $50 a year for Carbonite which gives me unlimited storage. I see now however that I can buy a 1TB HP external drive from Costco for $99, it has software that automatically backs up any new file, and can be used for multiple computers. I would be ahead in no time with 3 computers to back up. The only downfall I can see is that it is not off-site backup. Since it's just for personal use I think it would be fine; if it were for business records I think off-site is superior. Mike M

Simple solution to backing up your data.
Just use Carbonite. Everything is backed up off site so no worries if
tragedy strikes, fire; storm etc.
Any time you are connected to the Internet the program takes care of
backing up your files that have changed.
