Ok, I always have to tell a story, so here it goes. About a month ago I bought a Ford 5000 from a guy selling some property in Bothell. The family had once had a cattle ranch there. This was the last little piece of the farm, the rest has been developed into an industrial park, UW branch campus, and Home Depot years ago. While buying the Ford he metioned having an AO. He said it was a 1937. I didn't pay much attention to it as I have a 1936 AO, and he made is sound like it was not for sale as it was his baby.

He called me up about a week ago asking how the Ford was working out. I told him it was a complete diaster, as the select-o-speed transmission turned to out be bad. (I don't hold him at fault for this) He then said he was calling to see if I was interested in his AO, as he had just noticed that sitting outside was taking a toll on it, and wanted it to go to someone that would get it going. He said he had found a crack in the engine block, and that the motor would not turn over, and the brakes were stuck. I told him I specialized in JD A's and that I happened to have a brand new block for it sitting in my garage.

Anyway, we finally got together today and I loaded it up and took it home. It never dawned on my that it was an AOS until I saw it.

Here is a link to the pictures. I will take more tomorrow when I get a chance.

The tractor is missing most of the AOS metal, and the drawbar is not correct.. But it still has plenty of potential.

I had not been planning on restoring another tractor for a long time, but now I think I will plan on restoring this one this coming winter.

                 Chris
