[AT] Weird truck problem was RE: 8V 71 Detroit in a Mack Cab over for Ralph

My buddy Duke ran a diesel repair shop for 35 years and the weirdest truck
he ever saw was owned by a man that hauled steel West over the Rockies. He
always hauled overloaded and ordered his cab over Jimmy for just the job. He
stopped into my buddy's shop one day telling him he couldn't keep the truck
between the ditches and wanted him to check it out. He assumed he needed the
axles realigned but took the truck for a drive. He came back and couldn't
understand how the guy even drove it. They tilted the cab to reveal a 12
cylinder GMC! The part that was giving him fits was the frame, it was
aluminum. It was bending under the torque of the engine when hauling heavy.
HE never said how or if they ever fixed it but it was a strange one. One
thing he always wanted was a semi truck with a Big Al purple Allis-Chalmers
engine in it. I've heard of a few but never seen one.

He's about as good as I am at clashing gears :)

The brown truck he was following looks similar to my 1950 750 GMC except
mine has single drive axle.
and a wimpy 4-71.
