Seen a lot of worn out bull gear housings, bearings and shafts but never
had to deal with one that was locked up. Good thought about the brake--seen
several brake drums work loose and start wearing things away. I've only seen
one or two of the gears chip.Let us know what you find when you open it up.
We rebuilt one a while back that had run for so long with a bad inner
bearing that when we put it back together, we didn't notice how bad the
spline on the big gear had worn at a taper. When the tractor got under a
heavy pull the gear would walk to one side of the housing and start
"knocking". Typically the left side gives most of the trouble.
