I have made a mistake on referring members to "Deerely Departed" for the Evergreen gauges. They
don't sell them anymore. My mistake. Contact Evergreen directly.

Mark,

There are many repair parts for the two cylinder JD's that should not be purchased from JD any more.
If the original part number has been substituted to a new longer and different part number then be
especially very careful. Many of JD's replacement parts for the two cylinder tractors are generic
versions to fit multiple applications which may not be correct for any of them. Gauges and hour
meters are very good examples. In some cases the JD substituted part numbers will not even work at
all. If one tries to buy original JD #7 (bucket tooth) plow bolts from JD to repair/restore a 1940's
& 1950's moldboard plows, the original part number is substituted with a #3 plow bolt which won't
fit at all. JD parts from JD can no longer be trusted to be accurate or trusted to even fit.

I can only recommend Evergreen restored or new Gauges from:

http://www.deerelydeparted.com/

As well as many of the other parts they list. Their (DD) reproduction paper manuals are the best
quality on the market and typically the lowest cost.

I believe that Evergreen would prefer to sell through resellers but here is their info:

One thing I have discovered you have to be careful of...in some cases, if
you go
buy a new gauge (not NOS) from Deere, it may not have the same face color as
the same part number did when your tractor was built. My H has black-face
gauges,
and I'm quite sure that my dad and granddad bought 'genuine Deere' when they
replaced them maybe 20 years back - and I know that the '40 H originally had
white face gauges.
