[AT] USA in Color: 1939-1943

No, Gene, No.  Don't throw those Ektachromes away.  Scan them into your computer, load them into Picasa, and bring back the original color and contrast using the adjustments in the software.  Once you get the routine down to an assembly-line style function, the throughput on scanning takes about one minute per image, and you can do several hundred color corrections while you're listening to the evening news in the background.  THEN, you can throw the slides away.  :-)  The really nice thing about Picasa (besides that it is free) is that you automatically get a "paper trail" of the corrections on every image, and every correction is completely revertible.  You do not get new non-revertible images unless you burn the corrected images to a CD.  Even then, the originals in your computer are still revertible to their original form.  This sort of function is a godsend to people who are doing real archiving and genealogy work.
