There may be a seal on the injector pump driveshaft that's leaking & causing
too low pressure to the injectors?  I'm guessing; I bought a truck (ford
f250 diesel) once that had that seal leaking & it diluted the oil but it did
start & run ok.

I'm ready to send this thing to the crusher so any help you can provide will
be welcome.  I picked up this tractor about two years ago.  I tried to get
it running then and eventually gave up assuming that the stater needed to be
rebuilt in order to get it spinning fast enough to run.  Fast forward to
about three weeks ago.  My Dad decided he could get it to run so after
messing with it on and off and getting nowhere, I took the starter in to get
it rebuilt this week.  The starter seems to work better, but really doesn't
spin the motor any faster (new battery, too).  Anyway, what I know is it is
getting fuel to each of the injectors (no air in system).  It just won't
fire.  I took the valve cover off today, and everything looks good, all the
valves were free and moving when I turned it over.  The tractor has good
suction at the intake (it will almost suck your hand in if you get a good
seal).  No smoke, ever, even with either, it just won't fire.

This may be a helpful clue, I noticed that the oil was diluted with fuel so
I drained the oil this afternoon as well. Just for fun, I left the plug out
and turned the engine over.  Everytime I did that, diesel fuel came out of
the oil pan.  It seems that the fuel may be seeping by the rings?  I last
saw the tractor run about five years ago and it ran strong with no obvious
signs of wear, it has sat since.

I can see one or two rings not sealing, but all six cylinders?  The tractor
is compete and in decent shape, but it's just not worth a complete tear down
and engine rebuild.  These things ae probably only worth $1,500 running (not
much of a market for them).  I hate to send it down the road, but unless
someone can come up with a solution.....I'm out of ideas.  What do you
think?  Is there something I'm missing?

Can diesel fuel go bad?     I have been trying to start my Ford 6000 
or the past three weeks.  I am getting fuel into the cylinders, but no 
moke. I put a new starter on this morning thinking that was the 
roblem no luck.  Fuel is at least four years old.  All help is 
ppreciated.
