YES, MY MEMORY SERVES ME THE EXACTLY THE SAME.

RIGHT DOWN TO THE 9/16'ths NUTS....

DEFINETLY DRAIN THE COOLANT & OIL, UNLESS YOU'RE GONNA BE TURNING THE ENGINE OVER; WITH THE HEAD OFF, (DONT DO IT)!! I ALWAYS CHANGE THE OIL & ANTI-FREEZE, WHEN I GET AN ENGINE THAT FAR APART; & YOU'RE GONNA KNOCK STUFF DOWN HOLES, AS YOU CLEAN THE ENGINE SURFACES...(BE CAREFUL.) !

IT'LL BE A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR THEM, & A GOOD TEACHING TOOL, AS IT'S A "PRIMITIVE ENGINE." A GOOD ONE TO TEACH BEGINING MECHANICS ON.

I took the class into the shop the last 30 min. of class and introduced it to them and told them the goal was to drive it out of the shop under its own power. Then under my supervision a couple students took the valve cover off. All valves are loose. Tomorrow if they finish in time we are going to start preparing to pull the head off. The crew seems pretty enthusiastic about it and were amused at the thought of an actual hand crank engine.
