Burnt cylinder oil was a mainstay here for years - all the usual things 
from soaking rusted bolts to holding down dust on dirt roads to the 
preservative angle.

There was an old aluminum stockpot that was used to hold the burnt oil.

These days I use a couple 5 gal buckets.
