Here's an example of what I was saying about the Rawls book. This is what
he says you should have in your G.O.O.D. Backpack:

Sleeping bag

Jacket

Gloves

Boots

Poncho

Small Tarp

Financial and personal papers

Cash and a rolls of quarters

Road maps

First aid kit

Insect repellant

Fire starter kit

Letherman tool

Utility knife

10 to 15 MREs

Extra socks and underwear

2 canteens or a camelback hydration pack

Broad brimmed hat

LED flashlight and extra lithium batteries

Firearms

Cell phone

GPS

Brunton solar port or similar solar charger

All of that is supposed to go in your BACKPACK!
All good stuff but who could carry it all?

Then he has 3 more ADD ON Kits that he says would be too bulky or heavy to
carry in your backpack. Well DUH. His kitchen list alone has 24 items and
that ain't countin' food.

It's all good, useful stuff but he's gone way beyond what most folks would
be capable of handling in a backpack.
Of course he tells everyone to be able to run 5 miles with their pack too.

LOL.
