[AT] Vertigo

Dick,

No my vertigo is caused by laying on my back and working on something above me. The Dr suggested
laying down in bed, slowly rolling from side to side and then getting up again repeatedly. In other
words do almost exactly what causes the problem, over and over until the body trained itself to get
used to it and not be so impacted by that particular activity. I found out I had to have something
above me in relatively close quarters to truly duplicate the same results. Maybe part phobia
induced. Anyway, the bottom line is I still get a bit dizzy but I don't get so sick I become
non-functional. It took quite a while of repeated exercises to reduce the effect. The site I
referred you to offers some exercises to try. In my case it is an inner ear issue and yours might
be the same.

Thanks Dean. You mention exercises, eye exercises?

Dick,

I suffer from Vertigo as well but from slightly different triggers. I
visited the Dr about the issue
and he gave me certain exercises to repeatedly perform to attempt to reduce
the problem. They have
helped but not totally eliminated the problem. At least I don't get sick to
my stomach any more.
Might want to see what is recommended on this web site:

The second page offers some home exercises.

Hope this helps.

This is related to tractors since it only bother me when I'm backing up in
my tractor :)

I have vertigo and it only bothers me when I do more than just a few minutes
of backing up. Moving/clearing snow is normally when this bothers me most.
More than 10 minutes of this and I am so nauseated I can hardly stand. The
New Holland I bought in 2004 does not have mid-mount PTO so putting a snow
blower on the front is not an option. Unless I trade this one in for one
with that option, I don't ever see me buying a rear-mount PTO-drive snow
blower (this year we could sure have used one).

My question is, does anyone else on the list have vertigo and if so, how do
you treat it when there's work to be done? I am to the point that I can no
longer take Dramamine due to a reaction I have to it.

Any home remedies you can suggest?

Thanks,

Dick Day
