The gearing is all straight-cut, so you can expect some gear whine. Our VAC has a little more gear
noise than our Farmall C, but it's whisper quiet compared to the MM R.

Haven't owned a VAC, but have the VAIW and VAI and used to have a VA and
I never noticed any excessive noise from the gears. The VA had loose foot
boards and they vibrated some till I tightened them. Was an annoying sound,
definately not singing though.
