[AT] Ford 5000

I have a 67 Ford 4000 with the SOS 10 speed. Personally, I prefer manual transmissions, but the SOS has been okay.

You need a pressure gauge and manual to adjust the transmission. It is pretty easy to adjust the pressures if you follow the manual. As long as you keep the oil level right and change filters/screens as recommended it is a good transmission.

Only problem I've had with mine is if it sits for many months it may take a minute with the engine running before it wants to move. Someone said I might have some sticky valves in the trans. No problems at all if it is used every few months.

George

Chris
I have the selecto-Speed- manual that has a trouble shooting chart. Describe
what gears are missing and I may be able to tell you where the damage is.

Charlie,

Form what I can tell, there was the 5000 that evolved from the major
diesel, and then there is the 5000 Diesel that I have (also made in a
gasoline version) Mine is a 70 HP tractor. It seems like a decent tractor
with the exception of a few gears that are not working..

         Chris
