[Farmall] M PTO Shaft Leaks

I bought an M from a local farmer this past year - noticed some slight leaking from the PTO Shaft.  Good tractor. Ran a Ford Baler around my 32 acre hay field in 2009 for three cuttings.  

 

Tractor SN is FBK-257944 X1

 

Stopped at local tractor parts store and they tell me that I can't replace the original "THICK" seal - that I have to use two modern seals back to back.  Also want $16 times 2 for the 2 seals.

 

Any other options?
