Richard,  When was the last time that tractor worked hard?  It might be that 
you have some carbon build up on the valves or the valve stems instead of 
burned valves.
Hard work used to prevent that problem.  Remember when you were a kid and 
someone said they needed to run their car hard to "blow the carbon out of 
it"?
