[AT] AC B Mag question

I have a Fairbanks Morse throttle governed 6 hp ZC engine. When I bought it
the mag was not working properly. The coils was appearantly dead and a car
coil had been wired into it to make it run. I pulled the coil apart,
emailed Neil and he told me what to do. That was before I owned his book.
I didn't see anything visably wrong with the mag but then I noticed
something. The wire that goes from the coil to the kill lug on the outside
of the mag was rubbing against the inside of the mag case and had rubbed
through the insulation. It was grounding out on the case just as if the
kill switch was grounded out. A new wire fixed it. I wrote Neil back and
in his usual brief way of writting he said "you were lucky".
