It is possible, but not quite the way you describe it. If the cam isn't timed right, it is possible that the piston could be going up instead of down when the intake valve is open.

I think I may have the timing/cam shaft off 180 degrees on a Super AV I am
restoring.  I have it all put back together to  a point that I am ready to
run the engine.  The problem that I see no is that when I had crank the
motor gas is forced out of the carburetor by air pressure.  I think  the
exhaust stroke is opening up the intake valves instead of the exhaust
valves.  

With the above scenario is this possible?
