Thanks for the replies, and the reminder that it was Cecil to whom I
posted the peanuts. As I recall they had success cooking and he
enjoyed them. Boiled peanuts and grits are comfort foods in these
parts as is real cornbread. Canned boiled peanuts rank with a TV
dinner or any other pre-prepared food. A substitute or compromise at
best. And the giant varieties make for the best to boil. Almost like
getting hold of a portabella or morel mushroom in texture.
