Get yourself a top side service creeper. They look goofy but they are
GREAT things to have.

Then you just set the height so it clears the vehicle, climb up the
steps and lay down.

I built mine using the base and upright from an engine lift. Cut it off
and bought a chunk of steel that would slide into it. Then drilled holes
for a pin to adjust the height. The top I made using some steel stock
and the tray of a bone style creeper.

And if you do want to convert that system to HEI, you can use the later
small cap HEI. The large cap units won't fit unless you create some room
in the firewall.
