Much of what determines the quality is how the TT is connected to your sound 
card and the software that you use to clean it up.  I am amazed at the 
quality of what I'm getting in the MP3 files. if you want higher quality 
than that, save them as WAV files.

I have never tried converting video, so I am beyond clueless there.

I tried transferring an lp record over to cd through my computer but was
pretty disappointed in the sound quality. I used a free download program,
can't recall the name of it right now.
Same thing with home video, the video quality was so poor compared to the
original vhs that I did not go any further with it.
