[AT] Case VAC - Now axles

Yes, there were different optional lengths for the axles for different
row applications, just like all the Case row crop tractors. I don't have a
parts book for the VAC, but I believe they were available to 104" spacing.
You could always use the long axles and and use the other set of wheels for
duals, if they are the same size. It will likely be easier to chang the
whole transmission and differential than to change the axles.

As to the question of the hydraulic pump, I believe the belt pulley has
to be engaged to run the pump. And yes, Case did offer a cover fot the
pulley stub shaft. I have one here someplace. This is what is referred to as
the high pressure system and not live. Later series went to the engine
mounted pump and referred to as low pressure and was live hydraulic.
There were 3 major changes in the VAC's. One in 1949 when Eagle hitch
was introduced and again in late 1952 when the sheet metal and a few other
things were chanced. If both your tractors are pre 1949, then everything
will be the same.

Over the life of the VAC's there were 2 different tire sizes offered.
28", 32" and 34". VA's and VAI's used 24" rim size. Of course the VAIW's
were built with 16" wheels, but probably more then you wanted to know, so
won't go into the VAS and VAH models.

                        Gene
