[AT] A little Off Topic - Fuel usage

Thanks Jerry,

Actually at this point I'm not so much interested in being a "HAM" in
particular. I mean by that I don't have much interest in the whole club,
rag chew thing. I listen to the local repeater on my scanner and as of yet
I have no urge to join in with them although that might change. It seems
like it's fun enough but I just don't need another time consuming hobby.

My main interest in amatuer radio is for emergency communications, most
often hurricanes around here but you never know what the future might bring.
I don't know enough at this point to decide what kind of equipment I
want/need. I'm interested in local comms and in being able to talk to "the
outside world" also in case of emergency.

The genset sounds like a nice homebuilt rig. I'd like to try building one
myself. It's easy enough to hook a generator head to an engine or tractor
pto. The problem is getting the governor right so that you have reliable,
stable power.

Thanks

Charlie Hill
