Dennis,

I heard that anywhere in the world you get oil drilling pipe, it fits  
any other pipe because ... the whole world of pipe manufacturing uses  
gauges checked at NIST.  I used to work there and was on an open   
house tour one year.  Heard the story from the fellow who does the  
dimensional accuracy measurements of the gauges used in production.
