[Farmall] gas gauge float

Farmall guys,

    I just bought a replacement gas gauge float for my 300's gas gauge from 
OEM in Chenoa, Illinois.  Problem is, there is no obvious way to physically 
replace the float, that I can see, without hacksawing something apart.  OEM 
had no clue what to do when I called them today--hard to believe that they 
sell an item without knowing how to use it.  Any ideas???
