A GPS is a VERY useful thing! I have an old Garmin emap (they can be bought
very reasonable on Ebay; I just bought a replacement emap as the plug
retainer broke on my old one) for about 25 bux IIRC. It does all I need,
get the biggest memory card (many come with the card) you can find & the
cable to link it to your cptr & Mapsource software (this also comes with
some on EBay); you can pre-plan your trips & it'll "guide you." I don't
think anything new will have the features the emap has for less than several
hundred bux (or at least they didn't have a few years back).
Hope this helps.

I'm thinking seriously about getting a GPS for my truck. Several instances
of poor/inaccurate directions on Mapquest this summer have sort of
"convinced" me to move into the 21st century..... ;)
I looked at a couple last night at Wal-Mart. There was a $129 unit that
looked like about what I needed. Is there anything I need to really look
(or watch out) for? I don't want to spend a whole wad of cash on a tip-top
of the line model, just want to be able to find my way around....I'm not
really that brand-specific either, it's just Garmin is the brand I have
heard of the most.
thanks,
A
