How about a gearbox off a bushhog type mower? Or maybe even off a garden 
tiller (worm drive not chain). Depending on what you use you may could even 
power this thing with a drill if it has enough reduction. We once built a 
machine at work that had a reduction unit with something like a 1700 to 5 
ratio (it was a HUGE unit). I had to make a temporary drive unit for a 3/8 
drill so we align the shafts of installation.
