John,
Page 112 of the JD Model B Parts Catalog (PC-330) shows the exploded view of
the optional live hydraulic pump that mounts where you say. Item number "3"
is the T shaped key that you are referring to. I don't know but I would
guess the Model A and Model G parts Catalogs would also show this pump and
key.
As for being able to get one of these keys from Deere I've been told you
can't although I haven't asked Deere myself. I passed up on buying a couple
of these pumps until I found one that had the key. If my memory serves the
top of the T is maybe an inch across and the height maybe slightly less.
The thickness is maybe 3/8th of an inch.
If you can't come up with one and have access to what I think would be some
simple machine work I can send you mine for a pattern.
Good luck -
Dudley

Subject: [AT] Help please with old JD power steering pump
Any of you guys familiar with the old John Deere power steering
pumps? I have a John Deere pump (#A4754R--one of the casting
numbers) that installs between the governor and the mag and fits the
older JD tractors. Are there any parts manuals that cover these
pumps? I am missing one part--the "key" that fits between the
governor and the pump and I don't even know what it looks like. If I
can't find the part I'll have to attempt to make one but I need at
least a photo or diagram. Any suggestions for me? Thanks, John W.
