For what it is worth!!
Tractor data .com shows this as a Ford 241.7 CID (4.0L) 6cylinder
engine (Ford Commander). Ford 6000 made from 1961-1967. The
compression ratio for this engine should be 16.5 : 1.
It might help it to fire if you drain the fuel and try a couple of gallons of new diesel with a 10-15 percent mix of K 1 Kerosene. That ratio makes my '85 Ford truck real happy, especially in cold weather. Not the same engine as yours, but, for what it is worth.

> I had some time to mess with the Ford 6000 Diesel I picked up about a year ago.? I just can't seem to get it started, it was turining over just fine and had a bunch of white smoke coming out of the exhaust, but it just won't fire.? Any suggestions?? I was going to try a change the spark plugs, but I couldn't seem to find them :-).? Could the fuel be too old to ignite?
