[AT] Trailer hitch ball mount: RESOLVED--China

I thought I would give a final update on my ball mount problem.
To recap, the local trailer dealer ordered a DrawTite 8" drop ball mount for
me.
The also ordered a low-profile 2 5/16 ball as well.
The ball mount arrived and they told me that DrawTite drilled the hole too
small, not by much, but enough that they had to enlarge the opening so the
shaft would fit.
DrawTite was fabulous and sent a replacement ball mount. That ball mount
also was "too small".
The "professionals" at my local trailer shop were trying to use a 1 3/8"
shaft ball with a ball mount that has a 1 1/4" opening. I checked and the
website for this product says the opening is 1 1/4".
I never thought to check that because I assumed the people who did this for
a living would, for sure, have checked that.
So, there was never anything wrong with the ball mount. I bought locally,
from people who make a living selling these products, just to avoid this
very problem, and... paid considerably more for the products than had I
bought them off the internet :)

That sounds aggravating--here is one that is downright scary. Dad blew a
brakehose on his '95 Ford F-150 pickup. He got a pair from NAPA---made in
China. I decided to change the hoses on mine since my truck is a '91 model.
Ordered my parts from Autozone. Made in China---and the groove for the
retaining clip was cut in the wrong place on one of them so you couldn't
install it through the chassis. Got a set of Wagner hoses from an
independent auto store---made in China again. At least they fit. My point
being that something as important as brakes being trusted to the Chinese is
beyond stupid.
Mandatory tractor reference--those 2 trucks have carried us to many tractor
shows and even a few salvage yards!
As for tractor parts that don't fit, I wish there was an independent site
to post reviews of the reproduction parts we buy. I've had some stuff that
was nice and some stuff that was junk requiring modification to make it fit.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad this stuff is available but if it doesn't fit
or work properly, what good is it?
