Thanks for the ideas.  I have both a pond and a pool here.  (the pool  
was not on our list of features desired as we searched for new  
house).  The pond is simply dug out of the pasture, and has no stream  
in or out.  So its subject to drying down in summer and filling up in  
Spring.  We think a pair of geese may settle in soon, but as for fish  
and other creatures, they have been pretty much on their own in the  
past.
