When I p ut the brake controller in, I very carefully crimped the splices
then gave the wires a very hard pull to make sure nothing was loose. The
splices were some very high quality ones I picked up at a garage sale. Then
I was heading west from North Carolina when the brakes seemed to now work
all the time. I checked things out and could not find a problem. At a
truck stop in Texas I decided that I had better find the problem before the
mountains. On about the second time tugging on the splices one came apart.
I put in new splices and upon return to California I cut the splices out
soldered everything together. That was three years and about 16,000 towing
miles ago and no problems since.
