Yeah, but why are the mathematicians publishing the paper and not the climatologists?  It's like a census-taker publishing a report on why poor people have less money than rich people.  They know the facts but can't necessarily interpret them properly.

I'm not saying they're not smart people but they've ventured outside their area of expertise.

The study, released on Jan. 28 by Kyle L. Swanson and Anastasios A. Tsonis,
who are professors in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, found that the earth has been cooling
since 2001 and projected that due to "global variation" the climate would
continue to cool for the next 20 to 30 years.
