[AJD] Craigslist Find, 1937 B

My '35 B has 10-spoke (bar) cutoffs, but has 38" rims. I'm repairing the rust pits after being sandblasted to prepare for the new tires. My 10-spline hubs are also of the cast-in type and on one the wheels, both cone halves are broken (in part from porosity in the casting). Since the tractor will never be worked, I shouldn't have a problem.

I'm sure that putting the wheels back onto the axles will be much easier than the removal. I had to scratch my head for a while, but finally came up with a puller using a 1"X3"X16" bar and the B25R Hub clamp from the unbroken side to pull the B25R from the other side.

I've been looking for a match to the good wheel, but the particular style of the hub isn't common (different from the JD1265B style). Of the tractor and threshing shows I've been to, I have yet to find wheels like mine, not to mention on 38" rims. Though I did see a round-spoke that had the similar hub.

My restoration has been ongoing for 2-1/2 years and at 58, I'll probably just stay with what I have.

Mike
