In MasseyFerguson at yahoogroups.com we have had essentially the same discussion
about loaders on 9N's, TO20s, TO30s, MF35s, etc. The general consensus has been
that you are better off getting a later model tractor with 4WD and power
steering if you want to do any serious loader work.

[Mike Sloane]~ It is essential that the loader hydraulics be driven off a
crankshaft mounted pump, otherwise you will only have lift when the PTO is
engaged and the clutch engaged. Those front mounted pumps tend to be hard to
find or repair.

The biggest problems with Ford N mounted loaders are very hard steering and
excessive wear on the steering components. The N's front end wasn't designed for
the kinds of loads generated by a Wagner (or similar) loader, and that puts a
lot of strain on everything from the steering box to the kingpins. Putting a
substantial counterweight on the hitch can help with both problems, as well as
the issue of reduced traction in back with a loaded bucket.~
