Really?  I've never had that kind of problems.  I roll mine around on the 
knee of my blue jeans and on all sorts of surfaces.  No problem at all. 
Heck I don't even have a mouse pad.  Mine is only a few months old.  I 
wonder if there have been recent improvements in them?
