[AT] OT--laser vrs optical mouse, etc.

I bought a couple of wireless mice on EBay real cheap; ate batteries almost
daily! About 2 months ago my regular keyboard died (coupla keys started
sticking) & I bought a wireless Logitech keyboard & mouse package; had a
rebate so was about 5 bux more than a regular keyboard alone & the guy at
Best Buy said he had one & battery life was good. I decided to gamble on
it; haven't had to replace batteries in either one yet (put Duracell's in
them). The mouse gives a tiny "jerk" only if it's not used for a minute or
2; figure maybe it shuts off after a time of not being moved until it senses
movement (vibration maybe?) to save battery. Otherwise it moves just like a
regular mouse cursor. I really like both the wireless mouse & kb.

I try not to send out many OT msgs. but don't know where else to find
this info. Have any of you experienced your (computer) mouse acting
jerky or jumpy? I replaced my old corded mouse with a Microsoft
laser cordless mouse and don't like the way it jumps up and down on
the screen when moving it slowly. Drives me nuts! What's the
difference in a laser vrs optical mouse?? Any recommendations for a
really good cordless mouse? Thanks. John W.
