Don't know about Chevy's but the last 2 fords I had (7.3 & the older engine;
forget the size) gobbled fuel compared to the dodges (had a 93 before the
last ford; have an 05 now).  the fords got about 14 mpg w/no trailer; dodges
about 25 with trailer; 18-20 with trailer & LOTS more power.  Really was
disappointed with the ford!

Well I suspect you could get a fair deal on one right now but it would still

be a bunch of money.  Actually I'd like to find an older diesel fairly cheap

just for a tow truck.  Somethink like a early to mid 90's (or older) F250 or

F350 or the equivalent in a Chevy or Dodge.  Something with little or no 
electronics and fairly low tech all the way around.
