Already checked with the people I usually deal with this morning, and they 
don't have any. So I will be calling all the other local salvage yards to 
see what they have. I'll call the ones you referenced in addition, since 
you've apparently had good luck with them. Like you said, shipping 
shouldn't be a big deal.

What I need is the short shaft and the two collars that go with it. The 
collars keep the shaft lined up with, and in contact with, the female 
couplings, the collars attached to the shaft with the cotter keys. Let me 
know when you'll possibly have something available. Meanwhile I'll be 
chasing other sources. 

The shaft and collars are pretty simple and I could probably have them 
made up real quick in our fabrication shop at no cost. The guys here take 
great pride in making one of a kind things for old stuff. Gives them 
bragging rights for the month. Just don't want to go that route unless I 
really, really have to since it would involve having to take measurements, 
figure out tolerances, etc. Also don't want one of them to do me a big 
favor and make it out of something like titanium (they like to make things 
better than before). Then there's the issue of making something that fits 
too well and having something else break because it didn't have the right 
amount of required slop.

I'll still have see if I get an answer from the PO before I go out and 
order the parts. This effort could be resolved tonight when I get home.
