I got a phone call in the middle of that Lew and didn't finish my thought. 
The auto in your 05 should be fine and that would be my choice.  I've been 
told the first generation of the Dodge/Cummins used a transmission designed 
for gasoline trucks that would not stand the torque of the Cummins but that 
was supposedly fixed a couple of years into production and way before your 
05 hit the street.  Some of the others I'm sure know more about it than I 
do.  I'm just repeating what I've read and been told.
