[AT] Case VAH won't run; carb issues /followup post

Let me give you my two cents worth and promise not to tell anyone else this little trick .
The first thing , your carb is STILL plugged up . The way I unplug one is ,,,, take carb off again , tear down just like you done before , take the upper part of the carb and look from top down too about where the butterfly is in the closed position ( in center of barrel ) and you will see two or three very tiny holes ( you need a good light ) . Once you locate them , get your jet cleaner out with a pair of needle nose pliers and began to try and rope the holes ( pushing from outside in ), one at a time . Chances are one of the holes will be pluged after putting the jet cleaner in about a 1/4 inch . Once you get the hole open , proceed to blow out just like you did before , from inside to outside. Reassemble carb , install on tractor and I`ll bet you a coke it works fine .
Now where are you going to purchase the jet cleaner ??? Bet you another coke you have several hundred of them and didn`t know it . I take a wirebrush and pull out a whole group of bristles , then remove only one of them , straighten it out and you now have a jet cleaner that will clean the smallest of holes , and the good thing about using wirebrush bristles is they are made from tempered wire and will not break ( let me rephrase that , I`v NEVER broken one ) .
Most folks don`t relize it but when a carb has trash plugging the holes , blowing air from inside out just compacts the trash and you can`t blow from outside in because of space . When you push the jet cleaner from outside in , you break up the trash and then it goes thru .
Thats how I do it way down south. If you have any questions , feel free to contact me.

Okay, it's been two months since I was last up at the farm, but this past
weekend I finally got the old Case running again. As some of you had
suggested it would be, working on the carburetor was pretty straightforward.
I took it off, carefully took it apart to the extent that I could with
simple tools, wire-brushed some greenish scaly gunk out of the fuel bowl,
and gave everything a general cleaning and inspection. Blew compressed air
through all the open passages, put all the original parts back together, put
it back on the tractor, and it fired up at the first touch of the starter
button. Still needs some tinkering to get the adjustment right since it
needs full choke to run smoothly, more than seems right, but I didn't have
more time to work on it. Dad is happy to be able to move the tractor around
now, and I'm happy it's not so much an obstacle for him anymore.

Next trip I'll need to bring up a new sediment bowl... the one that's on
there is fine but the valve leaks when closed. And I should change the oil.
And work on that broken stop on the left front end that lets the wheel turn
too much perpendicular to the direction of travel. And find a parts tractor
with a good PTO shaft. And put in a new clutch...
