Tim it's really not that critical as long as it's not to thin.  It's more 
important that you change it a couple of times a year (at least once) 
regardless of  how little you run it.  I've run everything in mine from 
reprocessed (in a pinch)  30 wt all the way up to 20w-50 and 40 wt racing 
oil.
