[Ford-ferguson] Hydraulic hoses

 From my experience, you might want to read the label on that sealant 
carefully,  I have used similar stuff and it works great, until you want 
to disassemble the fitting.  As Carl said, it sets up like caulk and 
becomes glue-like in a threaded connection.  I think there might be a 
heavier grade (industrial strength) Teflon tape that might not be so 
prone to shredding.
