Hi Gene:

The city of Portland's ordinance says:

(a) "Golf Cart" - A vehicle with four wheels originally designed for
operation on a golf course and powered by a battery or internal
combustion motor.

Of course it does not specify "where" those wheels are to located.   :-)

According to our call to the DMV this morning the state of Indiana
does NOT have a state license registration classification for golf
carts at all.
----------------------------------------------------
That fits with a recent press release by the Indiana State Police that
said that the Indiana State Police do NOT "officially " recognize any
city or county ordinances that permit golf carts or ATVs to operate on
city streets or county roads.
Nothing like the left hand and right hand not being connected by a brain. :-)
The State Police release was part of a local discussion about allowing
golf carts on roads here much like Portland and several other
communities around the state.

In the past, "I think", homeowners insurance was considered adequate
coverage. Our auto insurer will insure us for $43 but I guess I should
check with my agent for my farm policy. I may already be covered on
the golf cart. My horses are covered under it.

I am going to make a name tag that says "farmer Dotson" and start
sneaking into those Dotson family gatherings to visit everybody...
