[AT] OT : problems with rv ac portland coming soon .

Slightly more technical ,
first off I shut off everything in the camper to make sure there was nothing 
else running .
 Got my clamp on amp meter out , 1.6 a on the fan motor , 22 on the 
compressor . 23.6 total x 120v =2832 watt surge  .  That is actual starting 
current when I flip the switch ..   The gen is supposed to provide 3000 w 
,with 2700 rated . Thats cutting it close ,but it also states it can hold 
2700 for 30 min .   They claim that with the booster it will start all roof 
mounted ac units . Doesnt seem to make any difference if the economy 
throttle is on or off ,it just rumbles for a second and shuts off .  It has 
a 30 a receptacle . Back to facts , I did install the hard start capacitor 
like they suggest , without any noticable effect  .  ?    Bad booster or a 
bad run cap ?   Ok now what is really inside the booster ?  You can loosen 
up the cap ,the bottom half is a start capacitor , top is ?
  I dont have any way to test the capacitors ,other than to grab the wire , 
but aint no way thats gonna happen ! I learned all about capacitors back in 
jr high . I knew a guy who would charge the darn things up and then pitch 
them to some poor soul .  I was only dumb enough to catch one .
 I also got out the regular colemann 2500 watt gen ,it will start the ac 
with no problem . Its rated 2000 run 2500 surge .  But it turns at 3600 rpms 
,screaming at the top of its lungs .  The coleman only has a std 15 a 
receptacle .  It will also start right up if its pluged into the outside 
receptacle on the house .  120 v 15 aa circuit .
   I do know where there is an ac unit in the scrap yard ,I will have to 
swing by and scrounge up the capacitor and try swapping it out .
