The ball is 2 5/16" and is rated at 13,000 gvw.

I am on Mike's brainwave length for this one. I looked at the Valley brand
of trailer balls. The highest rated 2" ball (1" shank) is rated at 6,000
lbs pull weight. Concern for safety is always a good thing but where is the
weakest link. If the trailer tong is rated at 10,000 or 12,000 it should be
2- 5/16" ball or pintle hitch. Valley shows a class 5, but it is a 2-1/2"
square receiver rather than 2" and uses the 2-5/16" ball with something like
an 1-1/8 shank.

My .02 cents worth.
