There should also be a nut loose in there somewhere also, I would fish
for. There is also the possibility it is from a previous instance of
the the nut and washer coming off where the washer was just left in the
pan. I would either fix it myself or get it checked though, if the gear
comes off the shaft it may damage that gear or one of the other gears in
the front of the engine.
